Ultrex Foot Pedal Steering Cables Service Bulletin
We have received a small number of reports where the Ultrex steering cables have broken in high usage situations. The original steering cables (2267505 right cable and 2267515 left cable which are sold as kit part numbers 2887500 and 2887510, respectively) are the same cables we have been using for many years on Fortrex, Maxxum, Maxxum Pro, Edge, and All Terrain models. We have determined that there was an opportunity to improve the Ultrex steering cables with a different weave configuration without changing the diameter of steering cable. (This will make these steering cables backward compatible without additional parts)
Should you encounter a broken steering cable on an Ultrex, please replace the steering cables as a set with the following part numbers, 2297505 (right cable assembly) and 2297515 (left cable assembly). The new steering cables have the part numbers printed on the cable sleeves:
While these steering cables are approved on the Ultrex models, they have not been tested and approved for use on Fortrex, Maxxum, Maxxum Pro, Edge, and All Terrain. Continue using 2267505 and 2267515 on these models.
The parts lists online will be updated when the 2018 parts lists are uploaded.
- Ultrex 80 motors with serial number R298MK00291 and later are manufactured with the new steering cables.
- Ultrex 112 motors with serial number R303MK01205 and later are manufactured with the new steering cables.
