Talon Updates
Minn Kota service providers are expected to repair all Talon Shallow Water Anchors. The repair manual can be found on the eLibrary. You will also need to purchase the following special tools:
- p/n 2888890 Talon tools kit required to service 2-stage models
- p/n 2888891 Talon tools kit required to service 3-stage models
Since the release of the 10’ and 12’ Talon Shallow Water Anchors in 2014 there have been a few minor design changes to improve some of the original components. These changes did not represent safety issues, but are an indication of an effort to continuously improve the reliability and performance of the Talon product line. If the latest/current component part is not already installed then the installation of the current part(s) should be considered an “automatic” update. This applies to both in-warranty and out-of-warranty units. We will honor warranty claims on all 3-stage Talon Shallow Water Anchors for these updates:

Cable Tensioner, p/n 2773630:
Beginning at serial number O325MK a lower cable tensioner replaced a fixed lower pulley to reduce the possibility of a cable coming off of any pulley internally. In addition to improving Talon function it will be necessary to install this in place of the lower pulley to reassemble the Talon as the tools to reassemble it with a fixed pulley are not going to be made available. -
Second Stage Wiper, p/n 2884618:
On some early units the bottom plate of the second stage wiper was pealed back. To remedy this a row of rivets was added to the leading edge of the second stage wiper assembly beginning around serial number O183MK. Correct wiper assemblies have a total of thirteen (13) rivets, the previous version had nine (9) rivets. Any units that still have the wiper assembly pictured on the right in fig. 2 should be updated to the current second stage wiper assembly. -
Spike Isolator Wiper ASM, p/n 2778825:
To further prevent mud and debris from entering the Talon the Spike Isolator was modified to include a flexible wipers that will remove more material from the Spike during retraction. This change began with serial number P266MK. The wipers are trapped in grooves in the spike isolator, this change is not visible externally, Figure 3 shows a cross section of the new wiper assembly with the spike in place.
