Explanation:
A black screen showing “CURRENT SOFTWARE: INVALID” is the result of a failed boot up and requires replacing the control board on the Optimum to correct. Software version 2.060, released in January 2022, and subsequent software releases have included programming that should prevent this specific failure.
Warranty claims for Control Board Replacement on Optimum Downriggers were honored regardless of the age of the Downrigger because of this known issue. Beginning October 1, 2026, enforcement of the warranty terms will resume, therefore warranty on the Control Board is one year from the date of purchase.
Please encourage consumers to update the software on their Optimum Downriggers. Most Optimum Owners own more than one Downrigger, therefore, when completing a repair please encourage the owner to download the Cannon App and update all of their Optimum Downriggers to prevent an unnecessary circuit board replacement.

- Prevents running deeper than intended
- Must be set on the Downrigger itself, not accessible via app or Humminbird
- Defaults to 50’

Running the App on an Android or iOS device that is paired with and connected to the Optimum is the primary method for updating Optimum Downriggers.
